This decision is applicable to Vidarbha, Marathwada, North Maharashtra as well as to other less developed tribal regions in the state.
"The concession in power tariff will be given in a retrospective effect from April 1 this year and will remain in force for the next three years," he said.
The main aim of the concession is to boost the industrial development in less developed regions and will put a burden of Rs 1,011 crore on the state exchequer.
The minister added that this concession will be over and above the 26 per cent concession granted by the Maharashtra State Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC).
The concessions will especially be offered to industrial units making efficient use of power supply as well as to the newly-set up facilities.
