Jagdish Patil, Managing Director of Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation, and Special Chief Secretary of Andhra Pradesh Tourism Department Chandana Khan said here that an understanding had been reached to promote tourism in the two states.
They were speaking at an event where Maharashtra Tourism Minister Chhagan Bhujbal inaugurated a tourist information office.
Saying that Maharashtra attracts the highest number of foreign tourists in the country, Bhujbal said efforts were being made to attract more domestic tourists too.
Maharashtra was an "unlimited resource" for all sorts of tourist attractions, the minister added.
According to the officials, of the 6.29 million foreign tourist arrivals in India in 2011, Maharashtra had the highest at 4.8 million.
