The motion condoling the death of the BJp leader was moved by Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan.
The demise of Munde is sad, painful and unfortunate, Chavan said.
"Munde had risen from the ranks, was a good orator who connected instantly with the masses," he said.
Assembly Speaker Dilip Walse Patil said since the official notification from the Centre on Munde's demise was not received, Assembly proceedings started at 11 AM.
"There were diverse views on whether the condolence motion could be taken up before the cremation. This is a tricky situation. We all have to go for the funeral tomorrow and there is budget on June 5," he said.
