Assuring BJP workers that 2014 will be "our year", Maharashtra unit president Devendra Fadnavis today asked them to prepare for the battle to dislodge Congress-NCP government in Maharashtra.
"No compromise. There will be no compromise. We will adopt the path of sangharsh (struggle) and shun the politics of tadjod (compromise)," Fadnavis said.
Fadanvis, 42, who emerged as a consensus choice of the state BJP's two factions, led by former national president Nitin Gadkari and state-level strongman Gopinath Munde, was speaking at the party's state council meeting here.
Fadanvis said it would be his endeavour to cobble up an alliance of parties opposing the ruling Cong-NCP regime in the state, on the lines of the NDA.
He asked leaders who cannot face the battle ahead to withdraw and give chance to young and energetic workers, who have the zeal to do something for the party and people.
Gadkari and Munde, who also addressed the meeting, said the UPA government was on a shaky ground in the backdrop of the various scams and would collapse anytime.
"The UPA government is in the ICU and will collapse anytime," Gadkari said, while Munde indicated that the Lok Sabha elections may be held as early as in October. Both the leaders also flayed the Congress-NCP government over the severe drought in the state.
The meeting passed a resolution asking the state government to roll back the local bodies tax (LBT), which has met with stiff resistance from traders across Maharashtra.
