Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan today called for better coordination among different agencies to tackle any emergency arising due to heavy monsoon.
Speaking at a pre-monsoon preparation meeting, Chavan said caution, pre-planning and accurate monsoon prediction could be achieved through use of modern technology.
"Constant dialogue and coordination between different agencies will help to tide over possible crisis and emergency," he said.
Chavan said that the state had to experience disaster due to cloud burst in Uttarakhand and the hailstorm in the state.
He asked for creating a helpline number by municipal corporations, district collectors, weather bureau and setting up a control room.
"Last year, 165 people died due to lightening in monsoon. The weather bureau is developing a special system to give prior information about lightening during rains," he said.
