"Previous government had made several announcements without any planning in place. (However) We are working hard to bring a proper plan for implementation. Going by current speed of the administration and necessary clearances, it will take three years for farmers to get electricity during day time," Bawankule said, responding to queries regarding his department.
He told the House that the state government is trying to make solar power available for operating water pumps of farmers.
He said that generation of solar power will enable the state government to provide power during day time to farmers in some areas.
"I am aware of the demand from farmers to provide electricity during day, but as the demand from cities and towns is higher, we have to give power supply to farmers in night time. Many farmers have protested against it, as it puts a lot of stress on them. Those, who live away from their farms face major inconvenience," conceded the minister.

The minister said the current demand for electricity supply in Maharashtra is 21,900 MW.
