"Each team will have three members and are authorised to scrutinise the functioning of these homes, issue notices if they find any irregularities like lack of basic facilities, space, toilets, among others," state women and child welfare minister Varsha Gaikwad said here today.
Out of the 1,100 child shelter homes, about 600 are in Marathwada, she said adding that the objective of setting up these teams was to improve the functioning of these homes.
The scrutiny will be done before October 12 and the status report will be submitted to the government, she said.
The scrutiny teams have been set up based on the report of the Child Right Protection Commission on the status of child shelter homes, she mentioned.
In the last two years, 75 child homes had been shut down which were not registered and situated in remote areas and did not have basic facilities for the inmates, she said.
