"We have booked one Ramzan Shaikh under the relevant sections of Maharashtra Prevention and Eradication of Human Sacrifice and other Inhuman, Evil and Aghori Practises and Black Magic Act, 2013," an official attached to Wakad police station said.
The official said Shaikh, who after knowing that the woman's husband was ill, contacted her, and informed her that someone has done black magic on her house and offered help to get rid of its evil effects.
According to the officer, when the complainant refused to fall prey to his demands, Shaikh allegedly told her that if she does not adopt his measures, something bad will happen to her family and someone from her family would even die.
"Shaikh also threatened her not to reveal it outside and even demanded money," he said.
Following a complaint by the victim and her husband, a case was registered and efforts are on to nab the accused, police said.
