Maharashtra Governor and Chancellor of state universities Ch Vidyasagar Rao today asked vice chancellors of all universities in the state to extend monetary and material support to flood-ravaged Kerala.
Maharashtra has 20 universities with student strength of 2.3 million.
"The Governor has asked the universities and colleges to raise funds and also extend necessary support to Kerala in its relief and rehabilitation effort," a Raj Bhavan spokesperson said.
Secretary to the Governor B. Venugopal Reddy conveyed the appeal of the Governor to all the vice chancellors in the state and asked them to contribute to the Prime Minister's Relief Fund for the flood-affected people of Kerala, he said.
