Maha Govt extends three FSI to old buildings in Mumbai
Press Trust of India Mumbai To facilitate re-development of over 14,000 cessed buildings in South Mumbai, the Maharashtra government today said the three FSI will be extended to B and C category buildings constructed prior to September 30, 1969 in the island city.
Earlier, the FSI (Floor Space Index) was applicable to only 'A' category buildings.
The announcement was made in the Legislative Assembly by Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan, while replying to a debate on Mumbai issues.
"All categories of the cessed buildings will have three FSI," he said.
The demand for allowing all cessed buildings to use three FSI was made by Congress MLA Amin Patel.
"Earlier, only 'A' category buildings got FSI. Therefore developers never paid attention to B and C category cessed buildings. Now all categories will get the FSI following which several buildings neglected by developer can now go for re-development," the MLA said.
