When asked why the Centre did not promise immediate relief package when the delegation led by Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan visited Delhi last week, state NCP spokesperson Madan Bafna told reporters here that proposals were not submitted as per the norms.
"Just because (NCP chief and Union Agriculture Minister) Sharad Pawar heads the Empowered Group of Ministers on drought, the state can not expect that Centre will give funds. He (Pawar) has to go through proposals from all states. NCP hopes that the revised memorandum, after the visual estimates of crop yield are ascertained, will be proper," he said.
