Maha govt mulls including yoga lessons in school

The Maharashtra Government is considering to include lessons on yoga in school curriculum, state School Education Minister Vinod Tawde said today.
Speaking to reporters after attending the International Yoga Day celebrations at a BMC school in suburban Vile Parle, Tawde said the government will take decision after consulting educationists, yoga experts and people concerned.
He said it is important that yoga is taught to children at a young age and if they learn it, yoga will help students to concentrate more in studies.
Terming yoga as a form of education, Tawde said the world has now recognised the importance of the form ancient Indian exercise.
"The government is in consultation with educationists and experts to introduce yoga lessons in Physical Education classes," he said.
The move will definitely benefit the youth, he said, adding, the government will apprise students, teachers and parents about the importance of yoga.
