A number of activities like live music and painting can be conducted along the proposed walkway that can help people know about Mumbai's unique culture and history, Jayant Patil, the Guardian Minister for Mumbai city district, said.
The minister told reporters that he has sought a design plan from Flora Fountain to Horniman Circle in South Mumbai.
"I have asked the architects to design the flooring of the road and the footpaths as well as the lighting. Vehicular traffic can be closed for few hours in the evenings so that such cultural activities can be organised," Patil said.
According to him, there are several occasions that the Flora Fountain-Horniman Circle stretch lies deserted.
"Good use can be made of the area during such time," he said, adding that the decision regarding the same will be taken after he gets the architects design plan.
"In several cities abroad, such walkways are created to preserve the culture and heritage," he said.

Outside the Grant Road station, the road is so narrow that even people cannot walk. But, it is choc-a-bloc with vehicles, Patil said.
"The walkways can be developed as cultural zones to promote cultural activities," he added.
The unauthorised hawkers should be rehabilitated in the hawkers' zones planned by the civic body so that footpaths can be cleared of encroachments, Patil said.
