Maha govt sanctions Rs 113-crore grant for Ambedkar Centre

Maharashtra cabinet today sanctioned a grant of Rs 113.74 crore for the Babasaheb Ambedkar Convention Centre project at Nagpur.
The state government had already sanctioned Rs 22 crore for the Centre, being built as part of the Vidarbha development programme, an official said after the cabinet meeting here.
State Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan had performed 'bhumipujan' of the Centre in October last year.
The cabinet also approved a proposal to ask the Central government to include the Kaikadi community in the list of Scheduled Castes.
The meeting approved creation of a minorities directorate at the state level as well as formation of a minorities cell in each district collectorate.
The meeting was informed that water levels in state reservoirs have increased by six per cent and is now 75 per cent. As a result, the number of water supply tankers has come down to 48 from 350.
Water level in Marathwada's reservoirs is now 29 per cent, compared to the 93 per cent in Konkan, 73 per cent in Nagpur, 57 per cent in Amravati, 65 per cent in Nashik and 89 per cent in Pune divisions.
