The Maharashtra government will soon bring in a home-kit to check quality of milk and curb its adulteration, state Minister Mahadev Jankar today said.
The Minister for Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development and Fisheries was speaking after inaugurating a milk sale centre of the 'Swabhimani' brand here to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 66th birthday.
"Adulteration of milk was a serious crime as it results in health hazards. The dairy development department has come out with various measures to curb its adulteration," Jankar said.
"The state government will soon come out with a small house-hold equipment (home-kit), which will be useful to identify the adulteration in milk," he said.
Admitting that Maharashtra was behind in the dairy development sector, Jankar said efforts are on to improve the position.
MP Raju Shetty, MLA Sanjay Kelkar and others were present on the occasion.
