"The SMEs are free to apply for two-acre land anywhere falling under MIDC areas across the state for setting up a plant. Maharashtra government is providing 50 per cent subsidy on those plots of land," state industry secretary Apurva Chandra told reporters on the sidelines of the Make in India Week.
Moreover, the state government is trying to sort out problems like making the subsidy available to the SMEs and also making the plots of land available for them beyond Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) areas, by holding talks with the authorities concerned.
"I do agree that providing any plot of land outside MIDC areas is a bit difficult. Still we are trying to sort out the difficulty in such cases by holding direct talks with the district authorities concerned," he said.
However, SMEs are unable to get subsidies from the state government while purchasing land in the industrial clusters even after getting the subsidy allotted to them.
