A hotelier in Maharashtra's Thane district has complained to the police that a man identifying himself as fugitive gangster Suresh Pujari was demanding Rs 50 lakh from him, an official said Saturday.
The hotelier has told police that the man had made several calls and sent text messages between September 15-20 demanding extortion money, the official said.
"The caller threatened to shoot the hotelier if he did not pay up Rs 50 lakh. We have registered a case of extortion and further probe is underway," said an official from Wagle Estate police station.
