House privilege committee chief Subhash Zanak, who moved a resolution in the Lower House, said Shriniwas Karve, the then vice-chairman of the Scheduled Tribe Certificate Scrutiny Committee, disregarded directives to attend its meetings.
The privilege committee has recommended three-day civil imprisonment to Karve, he said. However, taking a liberal view, Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan proposed that the sentence be reduced to one day, which the House unanimously agreed.
Congress MLA Yashomati Thakur alleged that Karve had behaved rudely with legislators, while discharging his duty as a caste scrutiny committee member.
