Maha: Leopard enters residential area, caught after 5 hours

Triggering panic among people in Upnagar locality here, a leopard entered a residential area during the wee hours today, hours before the big-cat was captured vy forest officials.
The leopard, in search of a prey, entered bungalow of a retired Army officer from the rear side in the Upnagar area, Ashok Bhagat, in charge local police station, said.
On seeing the big-cat, a resident from the bungalow called up the police. We informed forest officials who after nearly five hours manged to catch the animal, he said.
However, the leopard did not attack or injure anyone and was later shifted to forest garden near Ambad area, Bhagat added.

Earlier this month, a 6-year-old girl died after she was mauled by a leopard in Niphad tehsil of Nashik district.
