Maharashtra MLA Bacchu Kadu along with over 100 farmers were detailed by Gujarat police when they entered the Tapi district on the Maharashtra border as they had not taken any permission to hold a rally, police said.
As the organisers had not taken any permission from the cops to take out the rally, Tapi police detained Kadu and 110 farmers at Uchchhal village on the border of Gujarat and Maharashtra, said Deputy Superintendent of Police, Vyara Division, Bhagirathsinh Gadhvi.
"Kadu led these farmers from Maharashtra and wanted to head towards Vadnagar in Mehsana district. However, upon their entry in Gujarat at Uchchhal, we stopped them, as they had not taken any permission from local police," said Gadhvi.
"We detained Kadu and around 110 farmers from the spot and later on released them," he added.
Kadu, an independent MLA, told reporters that he was leading these farmers from Nagpur to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthplace Vadnagar in Mehsana district.
"The purpose of this rally was to seek answers from our PM, who made several promises to farmers during the 2014 Lok Sabha campaign," said Kadu, who represents Achalpur constituency in the Amravati district.

"He promised to implement the recommendation of Swaminathan Commission. He also said farmers must get 50 per cent profit on their produce," added the MLA.
"Despite his promises, farmers hardly get 15 per cent return. I am leading this agitation because nothing has changed in PM's three year rule," he claimed.
The "Aasud (whip) Yatra" commenced on 11 April from Nagpur, an aide of the MLA said.
As per the plan, the yatra was to end at Vadnagar tonight, said General Secretary of Gujarat Khedut Samaj, Sagar Rabari.
"BJP government in Maharashtra did not object to the rally and allowed it to pass. However, BJP government in Gujarat has murdered democracy by detaining these farmers," alleged Rabari, who extended his support to the rally.
