Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan held a review meeting with the district collectors via video conference today.
The collectors have been directed to set up a 24x7 cell to monitor the drought situation.
In the affected districts, the Collectors have been given powers to sanction repair work of water supply schemes upto Rs 25 lakh, whereas divisional commissioners have the authority to clear proposals for water supply schemes upto Rs one crore.
The package sought from the Centre includes Rs 782 crore for the agriculture, Rs 73 crore for horticulture, Rs 91 crore for water supply schemes, Rs 85 crore for fodder for cattle in relief camps, Rs 86 crore for fodder outside the relief camps.
This apart, central funds have been sought for providing aid of Rs 3,000 per hectare for farm losses and Rs 8,000 per hectare for orchard losses. PTI MR
