Maha seeks Rs 3.46 lakh crore from 14th Finance Commission

Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan today asked the 14th Finance Commission to provide Rs 3.46 lakh crore for a period of five years considering the growing urbanisation in the state.
Chavan also asked for a special fund of Rs 12,447 crore for Mumbai, an official statement said here.
He said the funds were required as the state was facing rapid urbanisation and needs of local bodies in urban and rural areas needed to be considered. There was also need for upgrading infrastructure in the cities, he said.
A presentation on the state's requirements was made to the Commission's head Y V Reddy and other members.
