The convention is a part of the nationwide campaign which began on May 21, the 25th death anniversary of the former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. It will conclude on August 20.
Maharashtra Congress chief Ashok Chavan, former Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan, Rajasthan Congress chief Sachin Pilot, national general secretary Gurudas Kamat and Youth Congress national president Amrinder Singh Brar would address the event.
Youth Congress sources said the convention is aimed at apprising the common people of Rajiv Gandhi's vision of modern India.
Vishwajeet Kadam, president of state Youth Congress, said, "Mumbai is also the birthplace of Rajiv Gandhi. As a part of 'Hum Me Hai Rajiv' campaign, we have organised several programmes like seminars, blood donation camps, tree plantations, etc., throughout the state. The aim is to introduce Rajiv Gandhi's ideas which were far ahead of times to the new generation."
City Congress leaders said the event is a part of party's attempt to revive its fortunes in the BMC elections, where it is facing an uphill task against the incumbent Shiv Sena and BJP.
