Mahagenco starts first 660MW unit of Koradi expansion project

State-run Mahagenco today said it has started commercial operations from the first unit of 660 MW of the 1,980 MW Koradi Expansion Thermal power project in Nagpur.
"First unit of 660 MW of the Koradi expansion thermal power project has started commercial operations from December 16," the company said in a statement.
Mahagenco has decided to set up three units of 660 MW each as part of this Koradi expansion project in Nagpur.

CO2 emission might lower annually with new solar plant * With 750 kWp capacity rooftop solar power plant commissioned at the Calicut airport, the Carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions are expected to reduce by 823 MT per year.
The solar plant has been commissioned by Vikram Solar, a solar energy solutions provider and specialised in high efficiency PV module manufacturing and comprehensive EPC solutions.

Through this initiative, customers will now be able to open a trading and demat account online within 15 minutes without any requirement of submitting physical documents and and start investing immediately thereafter, the brokerage said in a statement.
This facility will be available to all prospective customers who have an Aadhaar card, it added.

Tata Communications partners Irish TV
* Tata Communications today said it has tied up with Irish TV as technology partner to bring the network's content directly to North American viewers.
Tata Communications will provide full suite of media services to reach 40 million Irish and Irish American residents in North America, the company said in a statement.
The company said Irish TV will leverage its managed over the-top (OTT), playout services and connectivity to deliver content in an app format, which will allow viewers to watch content across multiple formats such as iOS devices, Android, Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Google Chromecast, Apple TV and Smart TV's.
Tata Communications further said viewers will be able to access exclusive local content from every county in Ireland and Irish communities across the UK and the United States.

Ness Wadia to continue as MD of Bombay Burmah Trading Corp * Bombay Burmah Trading Corporation today said Ness Wadia will continue as the managing director of the company for further 5 years.
The new term comes to effect from April 1, 2016, the company said in a regulatory filing.
"In view of the tenure of Ness Wadia's appointment as Managing Director ending on March 31, 2016, the Board of Directors of the Corporation, at its meeting held on March 23, 2016, re-appointed Ness Wadia as Managing Director of the Corporation for a further term of 5 years", it said.
The new term will be with effect from April 1, 2016, subject to the approval of the shareholders, it added.

* Parentlane, a technology company focused on child development, has raised an undisclosed amount in an angel round of funding.
The round was led by Sujeet Kumar (ex-Flipkart executive), Aprameya Radhakrishna (Taxiforsure founder), Sumit Jain (Commonfloor.Com co-founder and CEO), Subramanya Venkat (ex-Bessemer Venture Partners executive) and others.
Parentlane offers parents personalised advice on the overall development of their child from the time the child is born till 8 years.
Parentlane will use this round of funding primarily on product development and mobile technology to enhance value delivery, user experience and engagement rate on the platform.

Wipro bags deal from Vestas Wind Systems * IT firm Wipro has bagged a deal from Vestas Wind Systems A/S to be the latter's strategic IT partner for workplace services.
Headquartered in Aarhus, Denmark, Vestas provides wind energy solutions in over 75 countries. Its core business comprises of development, manufacturing, sale and maintenance of wind power plants.
Wipro will deploy its solution for Vestas as part of the multi-year digital transformation engagement that will provide Vestas' 20,000 employees an user-centric, collaborative and energy efficient workplace, it said in a statement.
No financial details were disclosed.
