She said the 'New India - We Resolve to Make' exhibition is specially important for the children who will get to know about India's fight for freedom.
"This is not an exhibition, which you just see and praise. It is a kind of pledge (sankalp) (to achieve a 'New India')," she said.
Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, who was also present on the occasion, said such programmes help children to understand the sacrifices made by freedom fighters to get Independence.
The exhibition will be held over 35 places across the country. In the national capital, it will be held for a week at Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts.
