It all began when Maharashtra Industries Minister Narayan Rane got up to submit a clarification under Rule 48 which permits individual members to clarify their position, when opposition members began protesting against Rane and raised slogans like "Remove tainted ministers".
After this, the House had to be adjourned for an hour.
When the session resumed, Nawab Malik who was in the chair did not allow opposition leader Eknath Khadse to object, quoting Rule 22 which prohibits members from saying anything after an individual has utilised Rule 48.
Rane said that Khadse had accused him (Rane) of being a cheat, a dacoit and a fraud who committed financial irregularities in the 1995 case.

He said Khadse was his colleague when he was Chief Minister and therefore accusing him (Rane) of being a dacoit amounts to calling himself (Khadse) a dacoit.
Rane said that two of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi's trusted lieutenants, Anandiben Patel and Purushottam Solankhi, face criminal charges and hence Khadse should not talk about ministers here.
