Maharashtra Governor Vidyasagar Rao is arriving here on a day-long tour of the district tomorrow during which he will take part in a series of events.
The Governor will land at Sant Gadgebaba Amravati University helipad at 10.30 am, according to official sources.
He will then inaugurate 'Indradhanushya-2014' a youth festival involving universities across Maharashtra.
The event, being organised by the Amravati varsity in its premises, has attracted around 800 participants from 20 universities. The five-day festival would see 24 programmes under five categories - theatre, dance, music, literature and fine arts.
From there, Rao will leave for Dharni in Melghat where he will inaugurate the Agriculture Technical School set up under the Akola-based Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth. He will also visit an anganwadi (Government-run child care centre) in Dharni taluka, the sources said.
The Governor will take part in an interaction with the locals on Forest Rights Act, Panchayats (Extension to Scheduled Areas) Act and other issues in the afternoon.
Rao will hold talks with Government officials and speak to a group of tribals before flying to Nagpur in the evening, they added.
