Maharashtra government today approved the electronics policy for the state, which includes special incentives to start new units and also for semiconductor wafer fabrication projects in Vidarbha and Marathwada regions.

The state cabinet has decided to amend Information Technology Enabled Services Policy 2015 by incorporating some of the suggestions by the Indian Merchant Chamber of Commerce of Industry, Indian Broadcasting Foundation, VFS Global Services, MCHI-CREDAI and Mill Owners Associations.

The Cabinet, in a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis here, also decided to amend Maharashtra Water Conservation Corporation Bill, an official said.

The state has decided to increase share capital from Rs 2,000 crore to Rs 10,000 crore to complete pending irrigation projects.

The cabinet has also approved giving crop damage assistance of Rs 1,012.4 crore to cotton and soyabean producer (not covered under crop insurance scheme) for Kharif 2015 season.
