Maharashtra shooters dominate in civilian category

Hosts Maharashtra's civilian shooters today made a mark with six of them in the lead at the Sanjay Kakade Group Gun for Glory shooting championship here.
In the 10M Air Rifle for men (civilian), Shivraj Sawant is leading with a score of 584. Sarang Thorat, also of Maharashtra, is third with a score of 580, while second placed Amit Rana of UP has scored two points more than Thorat.
Akash Barkul (10M Air Rifle junior men), Veena Patil (10M Air Rifle women), Aishwarya Shroff (10M Air Rifle Women junior), Prashant Nagare (10M Pistol men) and Sonali Parerao (10M Pistol women) were the other top finishers from the host state in the civilian category.
In the women's 10M Rifle (ISSF), Maharashtra's Tejaswini Muley led at the end of the qualifying round with 396 out of 400 points.
She was followed by state mate Supriya Borchate (395) and Railways shooter Radhika Barale (395), in that order.
The event, in its third year, has been organised at the Shiv Chhatrapati sports complex shooting range at Mhalunge -Balewadi by Gagan Narang Sports Promotion Foundation for the National Rifle Association and supported by Bharat Forge and Bajaj Group.
