The total amount collected so far stood at Rs 465 crore in the urban local bodies, an official said.
The sum was collected towards bills related to electricity, water, property and other government dues.
Among these urban local bodies, Mumbai alone collected Rs 47.26 crore, the official said.
The state government has allowed the citizens to use the demonetised notes for the payment of electricity, water bills, property tax or any other kind of dues to the government.
Maharashtra has 27 municipal corporations whereas, nearly 300 other local civic bodies, acting as semi-government agencies, are mandated to provide the essential services to the residents by levying bills.
