Cyclonic storm 'Mahasen' in the southeast Bay of Bengal has retained its intensity though, according to weather experts, it was to weaken suggested by the latest satellite imagery which shows the disorganisation of the cloud mass.
The local Met office said the system had moved slightly towards the northwest.
"Latest satellite imagery shows disorganisation of cloud mass and weakening of the system, but so far it is maintaining its intensity," Director of local IMD Sarat Sahu said.
The system lay centred at 1,140 Km south of Paradip at 8:30 AM. It would move initially northwestwards during next 36 hours and recurve thereafter northeastwards towards Bangladesh-Myanmar coast, according to the bulletin.
Under its impact, rain was experienced at a few places over Odisha including the state capital of Bhubaneswar.
