The local Met office said the system had moved slightly towards the northwest.
"Latest satellite imagery shows disorganisation of cloud mass and weakening of the system, but so far it is maintaining its intensity," Director of local IMD Sarat Sahu said.
The system lay centred at 1,140 Km south of Paradip at 8:30 AM. It would move initially northwestwards during next 36 hours and recurve thereafter northeastwards towards Bangladesh-Myanmar coast, according to the bulletin.
Distant Warning Signal Number-Two (DW-II) was kept hoisted at Paradip and Gopalpur ports in the state, a bulletin issued by the met office said.
The bulletin said that surface wind speed reaching 35-40 Kmph from southwesterly direction would prevail along and off Odisha coast.
