Mahato today appealed the state government as well as the Centre to take appropriate action in bringing the labourers back from Malaysia, where they had been working since December 2014.
The labourers were hired through a contractor and engaged in a company named SG Cable Transmission Line in Malaysia, but were not given food properly and their passports were seized by the contractor, Mahato alleged.
Rukwa Devi, wife of another labourer, said the company was not paying wages as promised, while the labourers had to walk 60 kms to work.
