India's first World Superbike team, Mahi Racing today made yet another confident start at the qualifications before the second race of the World Super Sport Championship in Spain.
Kenan Sofuoglu claimed the pole position while Fabien Foret finished third on the starting grid for tomorrow's race at Aragon.
Three-time champion Sofuoglu finished ahead of 34 riders with a timing of 2'01.450, while Foret timed the clock 2'02.216 lagging behind by a margin of .766 fractions of a seconds behind Great Britain's Sam Louis who finished second on the grid with a timing of 2'01.610.
"Obtaining a pole position in the qualifiers has given me a greater boost to maintain the same results in Sunday's race as well. The bike (Kawasaki ZX-6R) has been performing fantastically and helping me to hold the fort," said Sofuoglu, the Turkish Rider.
Mahi Racing started the season with a win, when Sofuoglu won the first race of the season in Phillip Island, Australia earlier this year.
The team, which had debuted in the World Super Sport Championship last year mid way, has witnessed a solid performance from both their riders and showcased their credentials and are front runners to take the chequered flag tomorrow.
Chairman and Managing Director of the team, Arun Pandey expressed happiness over the performance of his team and is overwhelmed with the qualification performance of the team.
"We have been able to main a consistency in the performance so far. Be it in the qualifiers or the main race, we are on top and that is a very positive sign and shows what the Team is capable of doing. I am sure we would be in contention for yet another podium finish on Sunday," he said.
