Mahila Cong leader censured for comments against minister
Press Trust of India Thiruvananthapuram Mahila Congress leader Shanimol Usman has been censured by Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee for making adverse comments against Union Minister K C Venugopal, who is the party candidate in Alappuzha Lok Sabha seat.
The KPCC executive, which met here, expressed strong "displeasure" at Shanimol's remarks against Venugopal and was censured at the meeting itself, state unit chief V M Sudheeran told reporters here.
Shanimol had demanded an inquiry by a party commission into alleged nexus between Venugopal and solar case accused Saritha Nair.
According to party sources, Venugopal hit back at Shanimol for personally targetting him by levelling "unfounded charges."
The party also decided to issue a show-cause notice KPCCC General Secretary P Ramakrishnan, who openly criticised Congress candidate in Kannur K Sudhakaran.
