Hundreds of women Congress workers today staged demonstration outside the residence of BJP leader Subramanian Swamy in Nizamuddin area, demanding an apology for his "derogatory" remarks against Priyanka Gandhi.
Mahila Congress workers, led by leader of the Opposition in the East MCD Varyam Kaur, gathered outside Swamy's residence this morning and raised slogans against the BJP leader.
Protestors also tried to enter his residence, but police personnel stopped them.
"With his remarks, it has been clear that this BJP leader Subramanian Swamy does not respect the women. He should immediately take back his words which he used against our leader Priyanka Gandhi. If he doesn't apologise for making derogatory remarks, we would intensify our agitation," said Savita Sharma, MCD councillor, said.
After holding protest outside the residence of BJP leader, Congress women workers also tried to stage protest on Mathura road, but police removed them.
"Swamy's allegations are baseless and we would not sit silent till he apologies for making his derogatory remarks," Delhi Mahila Congress leader Onika Mehrotra said.
Congress workers had on April 15 also staged a violent protest outside Swamy's residence. Protestors broke barricades and clashed with police when they were stopped from going towards Swamy's residence.
