After Youth Congress, Mahila Congress workers will be holding protests across the country against the Land Acquisition Bill besides projecting the Union Budget 2015 as "anti women".
The decisions were taken at the two-day National Council Meeting of Mahila Congress that began today, which was addressed by party's Communication Department in-charge Randip Surjewala and Bhalchandra Mungekar.
Mahila Congress chiefs from more than two-dozen states attended the meeting, which will conclude tomorrow with an address by former Commerce Minister Anand Sharma.
"We held a threadbare discussion on how the Union Budget is anti-women, anti poor and anti-middle class. We have decided to hold agitations in all states on the issue.
"Mahila Congress will hold street meetings with women across the country to tell them how this land bill is anti-farmer. Mahila Congress has also decided to expose the government on food security issues," the chief of the Congress women wing Shoba Oza said.
The meeting was organised in the AICC here on a day when Congress began a protest march from Bhatta Parsaul village against the new Land Acquisition Bill, four years after party vice-president Rahul Gandhi launched an agitation against forcible land acquisition in 2011.
Youth Congress has played a key role in organizing the event.
