Mahindra & Mahindra sales up 1.3% in August

Exports were up 73% at 3,512 vehicles

Mahindra & Mahindra today reported 1.29% increase in total sales at 35,634 vehicles in August.

It had sold 35,180 units in the same month last year, M&M said in a statement.

In the domestic market, its sales were down 3.10% to 32,122 units last month as against 33,150 units in August last year.

Exports were up 73% at 3,512 vehicles as against 2,030 units in the same period a year ago.

Sales of passenger vehicles, including Scorpio, XUV 500, Xylo, Bolero and Verito, stood at 13,307 units as compared to 13,911 units in August 2014, down 4.34%.

Commercial vehicle sales were up 5.05% to 13,023 units last month against 12,396 units in the year-ago period, M&M said.

"While currently we are witnessing fragmented recovery in auto sales, we are hopeful that the upcoming festive season will provide a much needed fillip to the auto industry. Our export sales have grown with a record high of 73% compared to previous year," M&M Chief Executive (Automotive Division) Pravin Shah said.
