A 21-year-old maid was allegedly killed by another servant at the house of a retired IAS officer, who is currently serving as a consultant with the Election Commission's office.
Retired IAS officer Noor Mohammad resides at East End Apartment here with his wife and mother. He was out with his wife, leaving behind his 94-year-old mother and the two servants, when the incident took place, a senior police officer said.
He further said that the male servant was arrested from the house itself.
The maid has been working at Mohammad's house since 2013 and used to take care of the elderly woman. The maid used to live in the servant's room. The male servant has been employed at the house for much longer.
After the couple returned home in the afternoon, they found the maid's room open. "The unclothed woman was lying dead on the bed. She had strangulation marks on her neck," the police said.
After the police were informed about the incident, she was rushed to a hospital where doctors declared her brought dead.
"We have registered a case of murder and is probing every aspect of her death. However, the male servant's response was suspicious and he has confessed to the murder after sustained interrogation," said the officer. He was immediately arrested, he added.
