Additional Sessions Judge Amit Bansal was annoyed after the regular prosecutor of the court informed him that special public prosecutor Atul Shrivastava, appointed to conduct the proceedings in this case, will not be available till July 13 as he is busy with another rape case pending at the Tis Hazari Court here.
The court expressed anguish over the absence of the prosecutor, "more so, when today's date of hearing was given at the request of prosecution itself."
"In the interest of justice as it has been stated that regular public prosecutor of this court is not aware of the facts of the case, therefore, the matter is adjourned for prosecution evidence on next date of hearing, that is July 13," the court said.
On June 6, Dhananjay was put on trial by the court for the alleged offence of destruction of evidence in the case. The court had framed charges against Dhananjay after he pleaded not guilty and claimed trial.
The court had also framed charges against Dhananjay's wife Jagriti under various sections of the IPC, including 302 (murder), 506 (criminal intimidation), 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means), after she pleaded not guilty and claimed trial.
