This is the first ground in Kerala to have nine pitches, a KCA press release said.
Situated in a 6.3 acre land, which was once a cashew plantation, the stadium was built as a part of KCA's mission 20-20 plan to build 14 stadiums in the state.
Instead of the pavilion, the stadium has grass seats for the audience. The construction of the stadium and players Pavilion took two years to complete.
The stadium was built by KCA in association with Thumba St Xavier's College. The construction work, which was inaugurated by former India cricket captain K Srikkanth, began on April 29, 2013 and the land was leased for 10 years.
