Maize prices drifted down by Rs 13 to Rs 1,309 per quintal in futures trading today after speculators trimmed their holdings in line with a weak trend at the physical markets.
Marketmen said cut down of positions by participants, tracking a weak trend at the physical markets on fading demand from poultry feed makers amid increased arrivals, mainly kept pressure on maize prices at futures trade.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, maize rabi delivery for June slipped by Rs 13, or 0.98 per cent, to Rs 1,309 per quintal, in an open interest of 8,990 lots.
Also, the maize kharif delivery for May shed Rs 11, or 0.77 per cent, to Rs 1,425 per quintal, clocking an open interest of 970 lots.
