Marketmen said weakness in spot markets due to easing demand from consuming amid increased arrivals from growing regions, led to fall in maize prices at futures trade.
At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, maize for delivery in December contracts month dropped by Rs 17, or 1.21 per cent, to Rs 1,391 per quintal, clocking an open interest of 10,510 lots.
Also, maize for most-active January month contracts slipped by Rs 13, or 0.91 per cent, to Rs 1,419 per quintal, with an open interest of 15,600 lots.
