Maize rises on upsurge in demand

In restricted activity, maize prices rose by Rs 20 per quintal at the wholesale grains market today following pick up in demand from consuming industries.
However, other grains including wheat and rice basmati held steady on some support.
Traders said increased demand from consuming industries against limited supplies from producing regions, mainly led to rise in maize prices.
In the national capital, maize rose by Rs 20 to Rs 1,520-1,570 per quintal.
