In a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, AAP leader and senior advocate H S Phoolka, demanded constitution of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the drug menace in Punjab.
"If you (Modi) are sincere about checking the drug menace in Punjab, you should immediately form SIT (Special Investigation Team), drawing the officers from outside Punjab Police to enquire into the use of the school children as drug peddler and other drug related issues in Punjab," Phoolka said in the letter.
A parallel inquiry should be conducted by the CBI, as the ED is investigating the Rs 6000 crore of drug money sent to foreign countries and the Punjab Police is also investigating this criminal case.
Now that the name of a top cabinet minister has come to light and he is prima facie seen to be involved, the impartiality of the state agencies is under doubt, a party spokesperson said.

The party added that if Majithia does not resign, he should be dismissed by chief minister Prakash Singh Badal.
"The ED had to finally summon Majithia under immense public pressure, though earlier it was dithering and dragging its feet, given the powerful political connections of this minister, who virtually calls the shots within his party, the Shiromani Akali Dal, which is an ally in the central government.
"There are ample pointers of his major involvement in the illegal drugs racket rampant in Punjab, and in case Majithia does not resign on his own, chief minister Prakash Singh Badal should dismiss him from the cabinet," the spokesperson said.
