Major fire in Kozhikode

A major fire broke out at Mittayi Theravu in the heart of the city tonight gutting several shops. However, no casualties have been reported so far, police said.
At least 12 units of fire tenders, including those from neighbouring districts of Kannur and Malapuram, are engaged in to bring the blaze under control.
The fire first broke out at a textile shop and spread to nearby areas.
'Mittai Theravu', also known as sweet meat street, is a commercial hub of Kozhikode, which houses several business establishments, both big and small.
