Actor-turned politician Vinod Khanna today said his main poll plank is to bring industries to the constituency if elected as an MP while his rival PPCC chief Partap Singh Bajwa asked him to explain his stand on the Sikh farmers facing eviction threat in Gujarat's Kutch area.
"Bringing industries and getting necessary permission from the Central government under Narendra Modi's guidance will be my prime goal. This will help reduce unemployment from the area," Khanna, who is fighting poll battle against PPCC chief and Congress nominee Bajwa from Gurdaspur seat said.
"During my tenure as an MP previously, I have worked on transportation and infrastructure, hotel management college, hospitals and much more, and I promise to develop the constituency, so that no one needs to go out for jobs," he said while on his campaign trail here.
He said people were tired of Congress' misgovernance and wanted a fresh change of good government which only Modi can provide. Khanna said what Bajwa could not do in five years, I will do the same in 12 months.
Meanwhile, Bajwa has called upon Khanna to explain his stand on the Sikh farmers settled in Kutch area of Gujarat who were facing eviction threat.
Addressing public meetings, Bajwa said Gujarat Chief Minister and NDA's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi had failed to come to the rescue of these beleaguered farmers who turned their waste lands into green through hard labour during the last about 50 years.
He said what was all the more reprehensible was that these farmers had won their case in the Gujarat High Court but the Modi government went into appeal to the Supreme Court against this order.

The issue was the withdrawal of special leave petition filed by the Gujarat government from the apex court but Modi had maintained an intriguing silence on this basic point, he said.
The PPCC chief said this action of the Gujarat government reinforced the perception of Modi being anti-minority.
Khanna had lost the last Lok Sabha battle against Bajwa in 2009 by a margin of 8,342 votes and has been MP on BJP ticket in 1998, 1999 and 2004.
