The turf war between Lt Governor Najeeb Jung and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal over the appointment of Gamlin turned ugly when the AAP government locked the office of Majumdar, despite Jung's rejection of the order dismissing him from the post.
"He (Majumdar) today met Gamlin in her office and raised this matter seeking her intervention," sources said, adding that the she assured him of looking into the issue.
The AAP administration locked up MaJumdar's office and subsequently appointed Rajendra Kumar, a senior bureaucrat known to be close to Kejriwal, to the post.
However, promptly reacting to Kumar's appointment, Lt Governor Najeeb Jung shot off a letter to Kejriwal, declaring his posting in place of Majumdar "void" and categorically made it clear that he was the final authority for appointment and transfer of senior bureaucrats.
The confrontation over appointment of Gamlin as acting Chief Secretary had turned into a full-blown war between the ruling AAP and Jung last week with Kejriwal alleging that the LG was trying to take over the administration.
