Making India a centre of global arbitration and commercial dispute resolution is a key thrust area of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BAI is committed to help develop closer ties and dialogue with regional professions in South Asia to further this objective, said Lalit Bhasin, president of BAI and Society of Indian Law Firms, in a message to the second South Asia Legal Forum in China's Kunming city.
The focus of the forum is to create a better understanding of legal frameworks for investments and infrastructure in the region.
The meeting will also explore how new multilateral institutions like Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) and New Development Bank (NDB) of the BRICS countries can fund infrastructure development in the region and to help develop congenial legal frameworks and best practices for economic growth of the region, the release said.
Besides legal experts from the region, functionaries like law ministers, attorney generals and academics from South Asia are participating in the forum.
