Congress today demanded that the report of the Inquiry Commission that probed the Muzaffarnagar riots in Uttar Pradesh should be tabled in the state Assembly and be made public.
"We want the report on Muzaffarnagar should be kept in the Assembly and made public", party's chief spokesman Randeep Surjewala told reporters here.
Asked about reports quoting unnamed sources that the Commission has commented adversely about the BJP and SP in its findings, Surjewala said that Congress has been saying all along that that BJP and SP were "responsible" for the incidents.
"BJP instigated the violence and the Samajwadi Party which is in power did nothing", he alleged. The Honourable judge has affirmed what we have been saying. We will pursue the report once we get it," said Surjewala.
The one-man inquiry commission set up by the Uttar Pradesh government to probe Muzaffarnagar riots over two years back submitted its report to Governor Ram Naik yesterday.
Violence in Muzaffarnagar and surrounding districts had left over 60 people dead and thousands displaced.
