Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat and his cabinet colleagues led a 'Walk for Yoga' this evening to create awareness among people about its benefits.

Rawat was accompanied by Ayush Minister Harak Singh Rawat, Agriculture Minister Subodh Uniyal, Transport Minister Yashpal Arya and Minister of State Rekha Arya.

"A healthy India is unimaginable unless you make yoga a part of your daily routine," Rawat said as he led the walk from Gandhi Park to Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Park here.

It was to create awareness among people about the benefits of yoga and motivate them to participate in large numbers in the main programme on the International Yoga Day to be held at the FRI campus here on June 21, a government official said.

The event will be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Similar walks are to be organised over the next few days in the city by different government departments, the official said.
